Challenges

Light a lamp from a push button without the PLC: just the PSU, a button and a lamp.
In example 1, swap the NO button for a red NC one. Change the ladder so the lamp still lights when you press it.
In example 3, replace the PNP sensor with an NPN one. Why does it only work once COM goes to +24 V?
Two-hand start: the motor only runs while both buttons are held.
Traffic light: red 3 s → green 3 s → amber 1 s, repeating (hint: three TON timers).
Reverse a DC motor with two relays that swap its polarity. Interlock them so both can never be on together.
Count 3 parts on a photo-eye, then fire the cylinder, then reset the counter.
Short +24 V straight to 0 V on purpose. Watch the PSU trip, then fix it and press RESET.
Load example 9, then add a second contactor that swaps L1 and L3 so the 415 V motor can run in reverse. Interlock the two in the ladder.
Remove one phase wire from the 3-phase motor and watch it single-phase. Why is that dangerous for a real motor?
Example 9: set the overload to 4 A and start the motor. Why does it trip, and why does the PLC stop it?
Example 11: add an inductive sensor so only metal parts get welded. Plastic parts should pass straight through.
Example 12: add a feeder and a conveyor that bring parts to the table, so the robot runs non-stop.
